Background images can be very important to a web site. A muted image can keep visitors focused on the content. An image that is too busy will be too distracting. And, a dark image can overwhelm the text, unless the color of the text provides an attractive contrast.

We have provided links to some pages that show a collection of background images. Notes with each link provide issues for you to watch for on that page. None of these samples pages is presented as a recommended design implementation, although we do use some cool JavaScript and frames tricks.
